Biography

Phebe received her MSc in Civil Engineering-Architecture from Leuven University, Belgium in 2008 and her MSc in Architecture Studies focused on Architecture and Urbanism from MIT in 2014. She is a licensed architect in Belgium and has working experience in architecture, urban design and landscape projects collaborating with multiple offices and research groups in Belgium. She has a curriculum of research and working experience on five continents.

 

Research 

Phebe is fascinated by cities in all their complexity. Her work is focused on urban and architectural design on multiple scales and urban analysis supported by various mapping techniques. She approaches urban research and design informed by systems thinking, ecology and related to the field of landscape urbanism. She has extensive experience in water and flood-related research and projects. At the Urban Metabolism Group she is currently working as the Lead Research Scientist on Resource flows in African Cities.
